it’s always the same questions everytime it’s time to decide for a new phone.  your obligatory 2-year contract is up and it’s time to get a new phone.  how did it come to the point where such an expensive device is so disposable after only 2 years of use?  why is it that we get so sick of it so quickly?

i think it’s mainly because it becomes another extension of our arm.  you rely on the information that it holds now as opposed to just a phone.  it’s smarter than that.  sometimes it bugs me when people still use their phones when you go on a vacation.  you sorta forget what the purpose of a vacation is – and that’s to get away.  turn off the outside world and just live in the moment you’re in.

anyway, getting off the topic.  i’m really hating my phone right now, especially since i’ve been waiting for my phone to complete whatever process it is doing restoring my phone so i can STOP getting the stupid hour glass symbol when i actually NEED to use the phone.  the fact that i have to take the battery out and wait another 5 minutes doesn’t seem to be the most expected thing you want your phone to do when you need it.

as for some projects i’m working on, i’m really wanting the iPhone now.  it’s a great social media tool.  it has the most compatible apps for updates and it seems to be where developers tend to prioritize their time programming for, even ahead of android, microsoft or symbian.  my thing is that my contract with t-mobile lets up next month.  do i bite my tongue and get the 3GS now?  wait in hopes of the next gen model to come out next june?  maybe t-mobile 3G service will be better by then?  go to sprint and get the hero in hopes of the hype they call 4G?

always wanting the next best thing is greedy but it’s also keeping ahead of the curve when it’s a great tool for communicating.  funny how dependent we’ve become but it’s also geeky fun also.

the htc hero looks mighty clean too though.  who will be the next winner for the next 2 years?!  i’m only paying 60/mo for service with t-mobile. that’s spoiled me in itself also…son!

these headphones are pretty sick for mid-grade type headphones.  sure they look like old school discman type headphones but they have pretty exceptional sound quality for the price you pay.  not to mention there are 950+ reviews to back it up.  it’s pretty good for casual listening and you don’t have to be paranoid about busting them or losing them like if you were to buy the dr. dre headphones lookin all hype.  you can’t deny headphones that have stunna rims on the outside while ur listening to your music.  i only wish they spun so you can’t look like a class act.

respectable bass, good mids, and it’s like there’s an embedded tweeter system in there.  they also compact into sunglasses-like box.

my guys. if you’ve seen this show, then you’re cool.  just another one of those yuppy shows that sorta involves this 20-30 something group that has a typical “peach pit” or “max’s” or “central perk” type of hangout where everyone meets up when they are free.  it’s almost like college how there was always a common area where everyone met when they weren’t at class.  this show also relates to how i met your mother too.

well there’s an episode where one of the guys gets hired at another friend’s company as a mail clerk who also shares duties as the copy guy.  he gets called the “copy slave.”    i have a job duty that falls into this catergory as well.  i got asked by a coworker how i got stuck with this job and honestly, i don’t know.  it was sorta just thrown upon me.  ………how gracious i am for that.

in other news, i think i’m gonna end up doing the austin nike humanrace10k.  another coworker yesterday suggested that since i did a 5k already, for me to invest in training for a 10k because he said it’s redundant to train your body for the same thing?  to make the challenges more exciting and he made it sound easily doable as he did his first HALF MARATHON last january.   and all this because he saw my watch…

i sweat this watch gets people talkin… “so you’re a runner” “what kinda watch is that?” “hey is that a new band kinda thingy?”  the last question comes from wearing the head of the watch on the inside so the other side displays a nike logo.  but what i’m saying is that this watch gets you thinking you gotta keep running too.  the fact that is shows your week total and when you log on the nike site, it makes a nike “wii” type character showing what shape your in.  it’s like a freakin giga-pet basically but you have to run to keep it happy.  so that’s cool.  here’s to better health.

and to music.  new inspiration is ryan leslie.  watching his videos on youtube, he seems to be somewhat a genius…literally.  harvard graduate at 15.  just watching his work ethic in the studio is pretty inspirational, not to mention hype.  it comes off kinda cocky but i think that’s what makes it have it’s edge on his sound.  i get like that when i would do stuff just to hype myself up, so no big deal.

he’s just a sick individual.

anyway, i turn 25 tomorrow…or in a couple of hours.  a quater of a century has passed and so have the years of my life.  here’s to enjoying the rest of that century.  just call me QUARTACENT.  it’s INCREDIBLE. *cue jay-z hova music*

having stared at this wall and what i’ve wanted to do, i decided not to just go with one flat color but instead, i pulled out three.  i’m happy with the results.  “oh but you have to paint it back when you leave”  – well, you gotta move out too.  no biggie.

i smile when i see it.  it’s like a show came to my house and redid my pad.  i’m so fly.

lemme throw you some keys to making precision lines:

  • clear painting caulk – spread it on with your finger along the painting tape to create a seal.  presto!  so when you pull of the tape, it makes that clean, precision line you want but never get.
  • laser line thinagamajig – straight line guide as u put up the tape.  thank you for this invention.

and i guess that’s as exciting as life gets right now.  back to the grind for a couple days and back to another 3 day weekend.  9/80 schedule wins!  :]

so my snowboard is sitting in my living room.  i think i’ve put in on, oh maybe, 3 times this week to stand in them and practice my ‘edges’ just chillin on my couch with them on.  only if i could move, i’d hobble around in my apt in them.  it sucks that this is a seasonal sport…mostly for america.   but i can’t wait to go back up to the mountains.

possible locations?
whistler, canada
colorado rockies again
lake tahoe
big bear, CA
albequerque, NM
sand dunes of the sahara

regardless, it’s gonna have AT least once next year.  i’m itching to get carving down.  i just wanna freakin turn.  i’m not talking traversing/feathering.  i’m talkin about livin life down the mountain and doing the toe turn break.  yeah…even bought pants today.  talk about just looking like an ass in my badass clothes.

brand check: salomon, burton, vans, flow, nautica, oakley = all on sale, fools!

side note:  thinking of selling my sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 for something else but it’s dam nice to have that wide/macro lens…  need to buy a flash tho (canon 430ex) and want that 85mm f/1.8 prime baby.

iphone not really

not really any phones that i’m impressed with but at the same time i don’t really care.  but it’s cool to have a cool phone.  gotta be one of the cool cats zooming in and out of their browser on websites that you just saw when you left the house or stay connected 24/7.  but it’s kinda cool to have google maps or gps on phones tho.  that helps a lot.  just can’t seem to wanna pay for EXTRA internet on a phone.  main reason i would is just because i’m bored when i’m in the restroom at work and tired of looking at old text messages.
